Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Horizon Bible Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.
Bible
We believe the Bible consists of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, and is the inspired and inerrant written Word of God. Psalm 19:7-11 | 2 Timothy 3:16-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons:
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4 | Hebrews 1:8 | Colossians 1:1-17 | Genesis 1:26-27
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4 | Hebrews 1:8 | Colossians 1:1-17 | Genesis 1:26-27
Jesus
We believe Jesus is the only Son of God, who came to earth as a man, died for our sins, and came back to life again. We believe all who, in faith, trust Him as their Lord and Savior to forgive their sins are part of the worldwide body of Christ - the church. Matthew 1:18-25 | Mark 10:45 | John 1:14; 8:40, 58; 20:25-27 | Acts 1:9-11 | Romans 3:24-26, 5:8-10, 8:28-30 | 2 Corinthians 5:14 | Hebrews 1:8; 4:14-16; 7:25 | 1 Peter 3:18 | 1 John 2:1-2
Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and, in Him, they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.
Isaiah 11:2 | John 14:26 | Acts 1:8; 2:38 | Romans 8:26 |
I Corinthians 6:19 | Galatians 5:22-23
Isaiah 11:2 | John 14:26 | Acts 1:8; 2:38 | Romans 8:26 |
I Corinthians 6:19 | Galatians 5:22-23
Mankind
We believe man was created in the image of God, but sinned and therefore experienced physical and spiritual death (separation from God). As a result, everyone who does not receive Christ as their Savior, is separated from God and eternally lost. Genesis 2:17, 3:6 | Romans 5:12-19 | Ephesians 2:1-3, 8-9; 4:18-19 | Mark 7:20-23
The Church
We believe the Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Church is threefold: to give God the worship and praise He deserves; to build up every believer to spiritual maturity; and to proclaim and demonstrate the Good News and transforming power of Christ to all people. Matthew 16:16-18 | 1 Peter 2:9-10; 4:10 | Ephesians 4:11-16 | 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 | Acts 1:8 | Matthew 28:19
The Christian Life
We believe all Christians should order their lives according
to biblical priorities, among them being:
▪ Cultivation of their personal fellowship with God.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 | John 15:1-2, 17:17 | Colossians 3:16-17
▪ Expression of love to fellow believers by the commitment
of prayer, time, effort, ability and resources.
Galatians 6:10 | Philippians 2:3-8 | Romans 15:1-17 | John 15:12-13
▪ Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with nonbelievers in both word and deed. John 15:26-27 | II Corinthians 5:17-21 | Matthew 5:16.
▪ We believe in the biblical definition of marriage is between a man and a woman. | I Corinthians 3:16, 6:12-20

Resurrection
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people for judgment. Believers will be judged, and will be found blameless because of the covering of the blood of Christ, and will enjoy eternal life with God. Unbelievers will be judged according to what they have done and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Corinthians 15:52 | 1 Thessalonians 4:16 | Revelation 20:4-6; 21:1-8 | Galatians 5:19-21 | John 5:28-29 | Romans 6:23 | Daniel 12:2
