You don't have to tell the people of God to rejoice. We just do, because we are His people; we gather together in His presence with a joy that is God-centered, full of remembering God's faithful works, and overflowing with thanksgiving that is offered back to Him.

Current Sermon Series:
“An Eye for An Eye.” When a woman in Ohio pepper-sprayed a neighbor, a judge gave her a choice: Be pepper-sprayed by her victim in the courtroom or spend 30 days in jail. The woman chose to be sprayed. Without her knowledge, the judge substituted a harmless saline solution for the pepper spray so as not to cause harm. But the fear factor (“an eye for an eye”) remained.
When the Israelites instituted the “an eye for an eye” statue in the Old Testament (Ex.21:24-25; Lev.24:19-20), the purpose was not to inflict judgment but to protect against overly harsh retaliation. Human nature has no limits.
But then Jesus came along and added a Kingdom dimension to the statue. In essence, He stated that retaliation or punishment wasn’t even necessary. Instead, the injured or offended should “turn the other cheek.” In our world that dimension is considered unreasonable, perhaps irrational, or even crazy.
Let's discover how the apostle Paul echoes this counsel from Jesus in Romans 12:14-21 as we look at The Crazy Side of Love. Beware, this study may grate against our natural sensibilities.
